Dear Guys of Dan Pike Auction Company & Auctioneer Alley,

It is early Christmas Eve morning and as another year draws to a close, it seems only appropriate to reflect upon the past twelve months. Perhaps one of the most memorable milestones of 2000 will be the decision to quit farming and where that has led us since.

As we reminisce about our experience of that day, we constantly find ourselves recalling the fine job you all did. When it came to making the call as to whether to postpone the auction or not, we were reassured by your wisdom and the knowledge that you would back us one hundred percent either way. When we decided to go forth in spite of the bitter conditions, the wholehearted enthusiasm and dedication of everyone on your team amazed us.

You should know that there was a point we thought that your commission seemed to be extreme; but, in retrospect, we now believe that because of your involvement, we have profited far beyond what you may have cost us. To that end, we will always feel you are all a credit to your profession.
 
As Allen alluded to at our first meeting, there indeed is life after farming. Negotiations are in motion to do contract for work with Hamline University and Inver Grove Community College, as well as the ongoing work for the University of Minnesota. Schedules have been set to accommodate a week in Boulder, Colorado, at the Center for Dispute Resolution for an extensive training on Conflict Resolution in the Workplace. Rose has plans to return to school next fall to pursue a master's degree and will continue to share her gifts as a caregiver in the medical arena.

The future does indeed look very bright, and as we reflect upon the past we will always fondly remember working with you and the famous "Blizzard Auction 2000".
